SIS Jump Rope Team performs at AT&T Center

The Sweetwater Intermediate School Jump Rope Team performed June 26, 2009, in San Antonio at the AT&T Center for the Silver Stars Women's Professional basketball team. The Silver Stars and the Spurs play at the AT&T Center. The team jumped with a crowd of 6,700 people in attendance at the game. The Jump Rope Team has been asked to perform for the Spurs for the 2009-2010 season. They are under the direction of Rajeania Pittman.

Sweetwater will once again host Liberty Fest, the community’s annual Independence Day celebration. It will be held Saturday, July 4, starting at 10 a.m. in the Newman Park area.

Homestead taxes eliminated for 100% disabled veterans

The Texas State Legislature recently passed House Bill 3613, which allows for the total exemption of the residence homestead of 100% disabled veterans. The bill comes as a result of a constitutional amendment approved by voters in November 2008 and will become effective for the 2009 tax year.
