Students at J.P. Cowen Early Childhood Center enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast with family and friends on Friday at the school.
Invenergy held a fundraising golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at the Lake Sweetwater Golf Course. The funds raised — totaling over $10,000 — will benefit the Sweetwater Fire Department to purchase wind turbine rescue equipment that will serve all wind farms in Nolan County. Invenergy did this last year to benefit the Snyder Fire Department.
The undefeated Pee Wee Mustangs played at the Pee Wee Superbowl at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene. They played against the Abilene Cowboys and won 46-24.
Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts was born on Oct. 31, 1860. Juliette, nicknamed Daisy, started the organization called “American Girl Guides” in Savannah, Georgia on March 12, 1912, when she invited 18 girls to become a part of a movement that would develop their self-reliance and resourcefulness. Now known as the Girl Scouts of USA over 2 million girls are now registered scouts. Girls all over the world celebrated her 150th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 31, with different activities.
