Josh Abbott Band to perform in Abilene

The newly married Josh Abbott is back on the road again after taking some time off to marry his long-time love. The Josh Abbott Band will be at the Lucky Mule Saloon on Saturday, Dec. 4.
JAB's current single “Oh Tonight,” written by Josh Abbott, from JAB’s album She’s Like Texas, impacted Texas radio at the first of October and then nationally in November.
The Josh Abbott Band features Sweetwater native, Edward Villanueva on the drums.

Veterans readjustment counseling services offered

The Veterans Readjustment Counseling Services are the community-based professionals within the VA who welcome home the war veteran by providing top-quality compassionate readjustment assistance to the veteran and their family in order to facilitate a successful return to civilian life within their community. They offer individual, group, marital and family counseling to Combat Veterans of all wars and their families. Counseling is also available to any Veteran who experienced any form of sexual harassment or sexual assault while serving in the military.

Rep. Susan King makes stop in Sweetwater

Representative Susan King informed her Nolan County constituents during a luncheon in Sweetwater Thursday, held at Texas State Technical College West Texas, that everything “is on the table” when it comes to considering what to cut in order to pass a non-deficit budget during the coming legislative session.

Take preventative action to avoid the flu

National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) is a national observance that was established to highlight the importance of continuing influenza vaccination, as well as fostering greater use of flu vaccine after the holiday season into January and beyond. The 2010-2011 season's NIVW is scheduled for Dec. 5-11, 2010.
The health department wants to encourage residents to use preventive actions:
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

Goodfellows toy drive on Saturday

Representatives from Sweetwater Wind 1 & 3 and Sweetwater Wind 4 & 5 presented Goodfellows with a generous donation check to help purchase food and toys for Nolan County residence in need of assistance during the Christmas season. Sweetwater Wind is a wind power operating company with 392 turbines in the Sweetwater and surrounding areas. If you would like to help the Sweetwater Goodfellows, they will be having their annual toy drive Saturday Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
