Needing a win for a shot at the playoffs, Sweetwaterâs volleyball team instead saw its season end here Tues-day as Wylie came to Mus-tang Gym and swept away the Lady Mustangs in three games 25-13, 25-20, 25-18.
Wylie, the district cham-pion, is 8-0 and 35-6 overall while Sweetwater ends its year at 3-5, 19-19. Despite the loss, coach Liz Miller said her team made significant progress this season. âThis was a very good group to work with,â she said, âand we have a lot to look forward to next year.â

An 18-wheeler hauling metal shavings wrecked yesterday in Sweetwater causing major damage to the truck and causing a fire. One person was involved with the wreck. The driver sustained minor injuries according to Sweetwater Emergency Services Manager Grant Madden. According to eye witnesses, the truck burst into flames after coming to rest on the east side of the Hillsdale Road overpass. The driver may have been distracted, which caused him to veer off the road.Â The engine, transmission and rear axle of the truck were found between the bridges.
The AARP Driver Safety Program (DSP) is proud to offer a free classroom course to all veterans, regardless of age, through the month of November 2011. The DSP is offering the course to recognize and thank veterans for their dedication and commitment to service.
Any military personnel â active duty, retired, guard or reserve â are eligible to receive a free DSP classroom course on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011.
The Nolan County Hospital District Board of Directors met for their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening, Oct. 24, 2011 at the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH).
Representatives from First Financial Trust were in attendance to inform the board of the status of their accounts. A review of the markets and the impact felt following the 2008 financial crisis was given, which in turn has affected the rise and fall of rates.
