Nolan County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Farm Loan Manager Justin B. Holland announced that the loan limit for the Guaranteed Loan Program will increase to $1,214,000. The limit is adjusted annually based on the "Prices Paid to Farmers Index," compiled by the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
For the second year in a row, there will be two back-to-back fundraising events associated with the Round-Up for Rehab in Sweetwater to raise dollars for the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. A Shrimp Peel dinner and auction will be held at the Nolan County Annex on Tuesday evening, Oct. 25, the night before the sale at Sweetwater Auction which will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
A Firefighter's and First Responder's Appreciation Dinner and Silent Auction will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex starting at 6 p.m. It will be sponsored by the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce.
The event will serve two purposes: to honor all area firefighters and first responders for their tireless efforts in protecting the community and to raise funds for the groups as well.
"We are honoring all first responders in Nolan County with a complimentary dinner for them, their spouse and the children living at their home," said event coordinators.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 52 calls for service, issued no citations and made three arrests on Oct. 3, 2011.
The SPD received 17, 911 calls.

Tuesday morning, Oct. 4, 2011, the heavens opened and Roman Mrazek, age 3, took his place with the angels.
Roman was born on Sept. 2, 2008 in Benton, AR. He is survived by his mother, Samantha and four brothers, Kade, Thaddeus, Canaan and Kross, all of the home.
He is also survived by his grandparents, the Reverend and Mrs. Henry Shifflett, several aunts and uncles, many cousins and a host of friends.
A graveside service for Willie Arpe Crow, 82, of Roscoe will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Roscoe Cemetery with Ted Posey officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Crow died on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Lake Granbury Medical Center.
After losing at Brown-wood in four games Friday, Sweetwater at one point appeared to be headed for the same fate in Tuesday’s district home match with Snyder.
But after falling behind 2-1 with back-to-back los-ses of 25-22 and 25-19, Sweetwater (17-16 season, 1-2 district) won 25-14 to force a Game 5 and wrapped up its first win in District 5-3A play with a dominating 15-5 triumph.
Kelsi Crosson had 12 kills, 14 digs and three aces for the Lady Mustangs, who were trailing 20-9 at one point in Game 3 before winning 50 of the final 74 points.
Tadeo Canon-Masjoan is the Football Player of the Week. A junior move-in from Argentina, he kicked all three extra points and had his first tackle, which was for a loss, against Midland Christian.
