Bennia Rackley Carter, age 49, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 at her residence.
Her body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Bennia was born on Jan. 4, 1962, in Lubbock, Texas. She married Brian K. Carter on Feb. 27, 1997, in DeSoto, Texas.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 54 calls for service, issued 16 citations and made one arrest on Nov. 10, 2011.
The SPD received 30, 911 calls.

The Sweetwater Fire Department responded to seven ambulance calls and four fire calls on Nov. 9.

Roscoe State Bank invites the public to meet their two newest employees, Jason Jones and Dawna Fullwood on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. at Roscoe State Bank in Sweetwater. Refreshments will be served.
Book Club members from Sweetwater High School will host a Book Fair from Scholastic from Monday, Nov. 14 through Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, to help raise funds for library projects. Student volunteers from the newly formed Book Club have helped to plan the fair and will also help run it.
Sweetwater Animal Control currently has seven animals available for adoption.
One of the adoptable pets is a white female dalmatian mix dog from last week’s batch of adoptable animals. Other adoptable dogs include a brown and white male chihuahua, a black and brown female catahoula and a brown male chihuahua. This time around, three cats are also available for adoption including an orange female tabby, a black and white female long-haired cat and a gray female tabby.
Sweetwater turned a nine-point lead after three periods into a seven-point deficit with under two minutes to play. But then the Lady Mustangs pulled off an incredible comeback to stun San Angelo Lake View, 45-44, before a home crowd Friday to stay unbeaten this season at 2-0.
Lake View took a 44-37 lead with 1:43 left, and still led 44-42 and had the ball with 1.4 seconds to play. But Sweetwater found a way to win it, thanks to a Maidens turnover and Kendra Cros-son’s 3-pointer off an inbounds pass from Suede Shirley at the buzzer.
