Today is Election Day

The Texas Constitutional Amendment Election is now upon us. There are several amendments for the Nov. 8 election seeking voter approval. Those amendments are:
• Proposition 1 “The constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to provide for an exemption from ad valorem taxation of all or part of the market value of the residence homestead of the surviving spouse of a 100 percent or totally disabled veteran.”

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 144 calls for service, issued 19 citations and made 19 arrests from Nov. 4-6, 2011.

The SPD received 68, 911 calls.

• Aggravated burglary — 1700 block of Hailey.
• Criminal mischief — 1500 block of McCauley.
• Theft — 400 block of NE Georgia.

Arrested by SPD:
• Adam Salazar, 21 — Warrant.
• Zamardrick Walker, 18 — Warrant.
• Raymond Spillers, 72 — Warrant.
• Lonnie Bell, 39 — Warrant.
• Santos Vera, 22 — Warrant.
• Juvenile, 13 — Evading.
• Joe Lozano, 51 — Warrant.
• Jaime Garcia, 25 — Warrant.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, today will be sunny with a high near 65, breezy, with a south southwest wind 15 to 25 mph becoming west northwest. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.
Tonight is expected to be mostly clear, with a low around 38. Northwest wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
