Over the next two days, the future for Sweetwater High School golf athletes will be decided by how well they fare in their respective district events.
Sweetwater had a rough Friday night with Wylie, loosing 23-1 in five innings.
Lance Lindley, Wylie's starting pitcher, allowed a run on three hits. He struck out four in four innings. Sweetwater (1-4 district) got all of its hits in the first inning, as three of the first four batters reached, including Connor Stafford, who had a double.
But Lindley retired the next 11 batters, after giving up his third hit, and Dylan West didn't allow a hit in pitching a scoreless fifth.
The Mustangs will be out of action on Monday and Tuesday but return on Friday.
Leroy Hanshew had his sixth career hole in one this past Sunday at Sweetwater Country Club. Hanshew was playing the 158-yard No. 2 hole and used an 8-iron for his latest ace. Witnessing the feat were Karen Rainbolt, LaGena Weaver, Connor Cook and Russell Klepper.
