SWEETWATER â The Texas AgriLife Extension Service office in Nolan County will conduct a four-part series of small-acreage landowner workshops.
The first will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19 in the Extension Meeting Room on the third floor of the Nolan County Courthouse in Sweetwater.
A special meeting was held by the Nolan County Commissioners' Court on Monday morning, April 18, 2011 at the Nolan County Courthouse.
The meeting was a workshop on the potential construction of a new law enforcement center and jail for Nolan County. Local city officials and law enforcement were in attendance to determine the current standing on the matter and what steps to take in order to move forward.
Imogene Thomas Carter, 92, of Sweetwater, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at her home.
No services are currently planned. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, Dan W. Carter, Sr. of Sweetwater and son, Dan W. Carter, Jr. of Sweetwater.
Morris L. (Coon) McDonald, age 81, of Trent, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at his son's residence.Â
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Von Atzigen officiating.Â Burial will follow at Nolan Cemetery.Â Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 136 calls for service, issued eight citations and made 16 arrests from April 15-17, 2011.
The SPD received 27, 911 calls.

Although one of them is still alive in the chase for the No. 3 playoff spot in District 5-3A, the Sweet-water High School base-ball and softball teams will both go to Snyder today as underdogs.
LUBBOCK â The Sweet-water girls golf team enters todayâs final round of the Region I-3A tournament at Lubbockâs Meadowbrook Golf Course in sixth place after shooting a 375 in Mon-dayâs opening round.
Jodie May shot 91 to pace Sweetwaterâs effort while Katie High shot 93, Sarah Witt 94, Elise Lawrence 97 and Alex Gomez 99.
Andrews (328) currently leads the team standings by two shots over Snyder, with Burkburnett two more shots back at 332. Pecos is fourth with a 344 total and Monahans (349) is in cur-rently in fifth place.
