Around 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, April 5, 32nd District Court Judge Glen Harrison denied the request for a temporary injunction of residents from Oak Creek Reservoir and Lake Sweetwater to stop the City of Sweetwater's implementation of the new lease agreement.
A packed courtroom of residents — with even some hallway overflow — attended the nearly three-and-a-half hour hearing held at the Nolan County Courthouse. Leading the cause was Clarence Brockett, Jr., an attorney from Midland who also is a recent lake property owner.
In 2010 Goodwill Industries was awarded their first grant funding for veteran's assistance. Other funding for veterans’ assistance is supported by proceeds from the sale of $2 Veterans Cash scratch-off lottery tickets. This in itself has helped many veterans in so many ways.
Goodwill Industries of West Texas helps support veterans from young to old. Those who have served our country now have support that was well past due.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 36 calls for service, issued no citations and made two arrests on April 4, 2011.

Though it is still strug-gling to score runs, Sweet-water’s baseball team final-ly has its first district win — thanks to the performance of its most reliable starting pitcher here Tuesday.
Senior Kris Mayes, in fact, hurled the second no-hitter of his high school career in a 3-2 win over Big Spring as the Mustangs (1-3) pulled out of a last-place tie with the Steers and kept their playoff hopes alive.
Because of failed scoring opportunities here Tuesday, Sweetwater’s softball team let a chance to be the undisputed second-place team in District 5-3A slip away as it lost to Big Spring, 5-1.
Sweetwater had eight hits, but produced just one run as the Lady Mustangs fell to 2-3 in district. Sweetwater is now in a three-way tie for second place with Snyder and Big Spring, with Wylie — which comes here Friday — just a half-game behind all three teams at 1-3.
