If you've tuned in to the recently added Tuesday night show "The Voice" on NBC, you may have seen a local face grace your TV screen.
Sweetwater High School alum Tje (pronounced TYE) Alldrege auditioned for the singing show on the series premiere on April 26. He fared well enough to advance to the second round of competition and landed a spot on the eight member team coached by hip hop mogul Cee Lo Green, thus living out one of his dreams to work with the superstar.
A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community. Thatâs the message organizers are touting with the 2011 National Hospital Week theme, âChampions of Careâ.
The event theme, announced this week, is the centerpiece of a promotional campaign aimed at uniting health care facilities across the country during the May 8-14 celebration.
SAN ANGELO â The Texas AgriLife Extension Service will conduct three ACRE (Average Crop Revenue Election) workshops in Colorado City, Roscoe and Eden during May.

On Dec. 11, 2010 Eric Thomas Martinez Jr. tested for his recommend black belt. He is under the instruction of his grandpa, Lonnie Mendez. of Team Chip TKD Sweetwater. Eric has been training for four years, having started at the age of 2. He is a veryÂ active member of Team Chip; he is in the Weapons Club, Black Belt Club, Tournament Team and Demo Team. He has competed in over a dozen tournaments competing against people from all over the U.S., Korea and Mexico.
About 40 ladies from the Lubbock area traveled for the concert at Trinity Baptist in Sweetwater last Sunday evening. First Financial Bank celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Thursday with fajitas and beverages being served on the bank's lawn. Entertainment was provided by Aida Pantoja, performing a traditional Mexican dance.

In recognition of the compassionate service nurses provide to our community, Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) is joining the American Nursing Association in commemorating National Nurses Week.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 47 calls for service, issued three citations and made no arrests on May 4, 2011.
The SPD received 27, 911 calls.

Sweetwaterâs Jason Vause (left), a freshman on the Hardin-Simmons University baseball team, somehow managed to avoid the tag on this play last Saturday at Abileneâs Hunter Field and score the go-ahead run for the Cowboys in an 8-6 win that evened their best-of-three playoff series with Mississippi College. HSU then came back to win Game 3, 12-11 in 14 innings, and reach the championship round of the American Southwest Conference tournament that begins today at Texas-Dallas in Richardson. HSU is one of four teams in the tournament.
