A Lubbock man is spending the night behind bars after his 4-year-old son was found wandering in the middle of Interstate 20 on Tuesday morning in Nolan County.
The child was found at 6:30 a.m. near the Highway 70 split on the east side of Sweetwater.
When turning onto Interstate 20 early Tuesday morning the last thing Sweetwater high school basketball coach Al Hunt and his son expected to see in the middle of the road was a child.
Yet standing in the middle of the dangerous freeway was 4-year-old Angel Flores.
The Nolan County community came together on Tuesday evening for prayer. The event took place on the lawn of First Financial Bank in Sweetwater. Many attended the prayer for rain in light of so many local fires and lack of rain in the area.

The Junior League (ages 13-14) all-stars were the only Sweetwater team to come away with a win in District 5 Little League action on Tuesday in Abilene.
Sweetwater routed Clyde, 26-1, and will now take on Snyder at 5:45 p.m. Thurs-day at Wylie. Thursday’s winner advances to the semifinals on Saturday.
Sweetwater’s 9-10 year-old all-stars lost, 18-17, to Abilene Cedar Creek in their District 5 opener. The loss means Sweetwater must defeat Breckenridge at 6 p.m. today at Cedar Creek in order to stay alive through the losers bracket of the tournament.
Sweetwater’s 10-11 year-old all-stars have been totally dominant through the first two games of the District 5 Little League tournament they are hosting at the Major League field.
After Monday’s 22-0 win over Snyder in its opener, Sweetwater again showed little mercy Tuesday as it shut out Merkel, 12-0, to reach Friday’s semifinals.
Sweetwater will be taking on Wylie, which is also 2-0 in the tournament after an equally convincing 20-1 win over Abilene Southern in Tuesday’s other game.
