Eight Sweetwater seniors played their final volleyball match in a three-game loss to No. 1-ranked Wylie on Tuesday at Mustang Gym.
Immediately after their 16-25, 19-25, 16-25 defeat, the eight Lady Mustangs â all of whom played key roles in Sweetwaterâs most successful season in four years â were recognized during a ceremony at the gym by Sweetwater coach Liz Miller, who admitted she wasnât ready for it to end.
âI thought we did pretty well tonight,â she said. âI was proud of them. We didnât just lay down. Iâm just sad that itâs over.

Sweetwaterâs junior var-sity and freshman football teams were victorious at Greenwood and Big Spring, respectively, last Thursday.
Both teams will be back home to host Big Spring at the Bowl this Thursday.
Sweetwaterâs JV team is now 5-2 after defeating Greenwoodâs JV 40-6.
Max Gomez was 13-of-24 passing for 194 yards and four touchdowns, with Sean Norman scoring two TDs on catches of 24 and 28 yards. Norman finished with four catches for 84 yards.
The four Sweetwater Mid-dle School football teams came away with a split de-cision against Greenwood this past Thursday as the seventh and eighth grade Red squads won while the White teams lost.
Sweetwater travels to Big Spring this Thursday.

Showing dominance from the start, Sweetwater Red led 24-0, 38-0 and 56-0 at the quarter breaks and ran its season record to 5-0.
The Sweetwater Middle School tennis team won 14 of 27 matches vs. Snyder in a match played Monday.
The team will end its season at Midlandâs Tall City tournament on Nov. 10.
