The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 60 calls for service, issued two citations and made five arrests on Oct. 4, 2012.

The SPD received 20, 911 calls.

Calls for service:
• Fraud — 500 block of E. Broadway.
• Theft — 300 block of SW Georgia.
• Debit/credit card abuse — 9100 block of S. I-20.
• Debit/credit card abuse — Sweetwater area.
• Burglary of a habitation — 1000 block of View.

Arrested by SPD:
• Charlie Jones, 41 — Public intoxication.
• Charlene Carrington, 52 — Warrants.
• Leonard Hernandez, 50 — Warrants.
• James Raney, III, 22 — Warrants.

Curtis William “Bubba” Stone

October 6, 2012

Graveside services for Curtis William “Bubba” Stone, 77, of Winters, formerly of Sweetwater, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Roscoe Cemetery. Rev. Werth Mayes will officiate. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, from noon to 2 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Stone died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 in Stephenville.

Louis M. Steen

October 6, 2012

Louis M. Steen, age 84, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Fourth and Elm Church of Christ with Mike Crowley officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Jessie Joe “Queco” Costillo

October 6, 2012

Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Jessie Joe “Queco” Costillo will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Charles Okonkwo will officiate and interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be said by Lupe Medellin at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Costillo died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in Sweetwater.

Many attend Bitty Bop Harvest Bash

The Bitty Bop Harvest Bash benefitting Cornerstone Christian Preschool took place on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at the 4th and Elm Church of Christ parking lot. There was a hot dog supper, pumpkin painting, an apple toss, leaf printing, fall photos, a football toss, digging for treasure, a petting zoo, fall tattoos and many more activities for children.
