The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 34 calls for service, issued one citation and made four arrests on Oct. 16, 2012.
The SPD received 26, 911 calls.

â€˘ Aubrey Donte Smith, 34 â€”Â Impede breath and warrant.
The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had seven calls for service, served three civil papers and made no arrests on Oct. 16, 2012.

Helen Smith Allen, affectionately known as "Sissy", age 91, passed away on Oct. 18, 2012, in San Angelo, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at Mount Zion Cemetery in Fisher County, Texas under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home, 403 Locust in Sweetwater.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at First Baptist Church Chapel, 37 East Harris Avenue in San Angelo.
Family will receive friends from 6- 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at the funeral home.
THURSDAY, OCT. 18
Sweetwater 7th grade Red and White teams will host Midland Greenwood (high school practice field), 4:30 and 6:15 p.m.
Sweetwater 8th grade White and Red teams will host Midland Greenwood (Mustang Bowl), 4:30 and 6:15 p.m.
Sweetwater freshmen at Big Spring, 4:30 p.m.
Sweetwater JV (combined team) at Midland Greenwood, 6 p.m.
Roscoe junior high at Ranger (one team), 5 p.m.
Roscoe junior varsity at Albany, 6:30 p.m.

FRIDAY, OCT. 19
Sweetwater varsity will host Midland Greenwood, 7:30 p.m.
Since playing each other for the first time ever in 2000, Sweetwater and Mid-land Greenwood have met on an almost annual basis.
In that time the Mustangs and Rangers have played each other 11 times, includ-ing three times in the play-offs, with Sweetwater hold-ing a 7-4 edge. In fact, the teams faced each other twice in the same season in 2002 and 2005, when they met during both the regular season and the playoffs.
But the rivalry has a new wrinkle this year.
The Mustang Moms will host a spaghetti supper prior to the Sweetwater vs. Midland Greenwood foot-ball game. The supper will be served at the Sweetwater High School cafeteria from 4:30-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.
The plate will include spaghetti, bread, salad, corn, dessert, tea and water.
SRPC sight-in-day is set for Saturday

When voters head to the polls on Tuesday, November 6, two names will stare them in the face for United States Representative in District 19: the well-known Republican incumbent Randy Neugebauer and Libertarian candidate Richard "Chip" Peterson.
Peterson is currently a Professor Emeritus at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He is a former Professor of Finance at the university, where he is also the holder of the I. Wylie and Elizabeth Briscoe chair of bank management.
Linda Linn hosted a Telling Our Stories workshop at the County-City Library in Sweetwater on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012. Another class will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012. The previous class, held in February, had their stories made into a book. "We hope to add the stories from this class to the book that is in the library from the previous class," said Becky Brock, Library Director.
The workshop is free and open to anyone of any age. No sign-up is necessary; just show up to the class. Linda says "When you think about writing your life story, it can be overwhelming."
A public hearing was held concerning the FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) rating report during the SISD (Sweetwater Independent School District) Board of Trustees' meeting, which took place on Monday evening, October 15 at the Administration Building.
A preliminary report was given over the summer, with SISD garnering the highest rating, Superior--an achievement they have earned for the past seven years. The district's score, at 68, comes in well over the passing rate of 52.
With no public input heard on the matter, the board then approved the FIRST rating report.
