The burn ban for Nolan County was reinstated at the county commissioners' meeting on Monday morning, November 26, 2012 at the Nolan County Courthouse.
The commissioners jointly discussed the idea on whether to leave the burn ban off, but then Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden--who was in attendance at the meeting--was asked about the overall outlook of the county. Madden stated that the weather outlook is projecting drier and windier conditions, leading the commissioners to make the decision.
RPMH provides services through home health department
The Campus Report for Southeast Elementary was given at the SISD (Sweetwater Independent School District) Board of Trustees' meeting on Monday night, November 19, 2012.
Making the presentation were the school's principal, Peggy Elliott; the counselor, Courtney Martin; and first grade teachers Bethany Bryan and Amy Nixon.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 122 calls for service, issued 10 citations and made 11 arrests from Nov. 23-25, 2012.
The SPD received 85, 911 calls.

Willie B. Hanley, age 90, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Larsen officiating. Burial will be at Williamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Edelmiro (Pops) Gutierrez, age 88, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Jim Petrie. Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Okonkwo officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Another busy weekend of high school playoff football action is scheduled at Mus-tang Bowl with two more games on tap.
On Friday, a pair of Class 3A schools, Midland Green-wood and Graham, meet at 7:30 p.m. in a Division II regional. Greenwood, the No. 3 team in District 4-3A, is 9-3 while Graham, the champion of District 5-3A, is 11-1. The winner will face either Monahans or Gates-ville, who also play Friday, in the state quarterfinals.
