Donations to the 31st annual Spirit of Christmas Food Drive have been phenomenal, and thousands of families in the Ark-La-Tex will receive food this year from the effort.
Brookshire Grocery Co. stores collect food and partner with many service organizations, food pantries, school groups and other volunteers to help needy families before Christmas, including the Sweetwater Goodfellows, providing food and toys to families with children and individuals in need during the Christmas season.
TxDOT recently installed crosswalks and stop bars at the intersection of Broadway and Cypress Streets in Roscoe. The work was completed at the request of the city to enhance pedestrian safety.
TxDOT reminds pedestrians that it is much safer to use crosswalks rather than crossing the street at mid-block. Drivers approaching crosswalks should stop behind the stop bar when pedestrians are crossing. This will give pedestrians ample space to cross and will allow other drivers approaching the intersection to see that the crosswalk is occupied.
