Trent — Dwayne Watson, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, in a local hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, at the Trent First Baptist Church with Reverend Ronnie Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the Newman Cemetery in Fisher County, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation was from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A total of five seniors from Nolan County high schools have been chosen for Fellowship of Christian Athletes games that will be played June 2 in Abilene.
Taylor Jones and Sam Nemir of Sweetwater and Corey Hatcher of Roscoe will play for the North team at the FCA Myrle Greathouse All-Star Classic football game that kicks off at 7 p.m. June 2 at Shotwell Stadium.
Roscoe’s Jacinda Mora-les, meanwhile, has been chosen to play for the North team at the FCA girls basketball game that tips off at noon June 2 at ACU’s Moody Coliseum.

Media Day for the Rattlesnake Round-Up was held on Friday morning, Feb. 17, 2012 at the Sweetwater Jaycees barn.
During the event, Jaycees showed the 2012 Miss Snake Charmer pageant contestants a demonstration of milking a rattlesnake. Jaycees were on hand to answer questions from the contestants about the snakes while helping the girls interact with the rattling reptiles.
The 2011 Miss Snake Charmer winner, Laney Wallace, began the annual tradition of decapitating and skinning the rattlesnakes, which led the way for this year's pageant contestants to also partake in the custom.
FORT WORTH — Leona Brown, 89, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012.
Funeral services took place at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, in Greenwood Garden Chapel. Interment followed at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Leona McFaul Brown was born April 8, 1922, in Kaufman County to Clyde and Ada McFaul. She graduated from Roscoe High School and attended Texas Tech University. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dillard Brown.
If you’re not doing anything Monday night, Feb. 20, you might consider heading over to Emmanuel Fellowship Church located at 1419 Hailey Street for what’s sure to be a fun night. The Christian rock alternative band A Road Less Traveled from Lubbock, TX will be performing a free concert for all ages. A Road Less Traveled is moving boldly forward to become a legitimate rising star in 2012 with new single release and music video of “Break My Fall” set for Feb. 23.
In spite of some changes, the Sweetwater Goodwill is still taking donations at its current store while working toward the opening of a new location.
On the company's blog post from Wednesday morning, February 8, 2012, the Sweetwater store located on Lamar Street was "temporarily closed due to major repair work.”
According to Goodwill-West Texas president Cindy Haley, the building--an older facility occupied by Goodwill for the past seventeen years--and roof were in dire need of repair.
