The Big Spring Police Department has issued the following release regarding the gender of the remains found near the McMahon-Wrinkle Airport Tuesday afternoon:
The autopsy on the remains found in Big Spring, Texas began a short time ago in Tarrant County. Detective George Oliver of the Big Spring Police Dept. is in attendance. It has been determined that the remains are that of a male. As of this time nothing else has been determined and we will put out another release following completion of autopsy and a preliminary report from the medical examiner. No further details at this time.

Rodney Harvey with Curtainwall Design Consulting led the powerpoint presentation and discussion regarding the state of the courthouse and the options available for repair during the special County Commissioners' meeting on Friday morning, March 16, 2012, in which several steps were taken toward the progress of the Nolan County Courthouse renovations as well as the construction of the new jail and sheriff's offices for the county.

The three hour meeting included thorough presentations for the two projects from Wiginton Hooker and Jeffrey, the architect selected by the county, and allowed for in-depth dialogue between the commissioners and the presenters.
Tye Police Department Officer Chad Campbell arrested Anastasia Michelle Brown, 35, of Arlington, after the woman led law enforcement officers through a high speed chase on I-20 spanning three counties Wednesday evening.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. Brown, driving a black Honda Civic, led police on a chase through Abilene and Merkel and ended in Nolan County near mile marker 248, according to Nolan County Sheriff David Warren.
"The pursuit began in Callahan County and the driver reached speeds of 120 miles per hour during the chase," said Sheriff Warren.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 43 calls for service, issued four citations and made one arrest on March 21, 2012.
The SPD received 25, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had five calls for service, served no civil papers and made three arrests on March 21, 2012.

R. Don Wright, 69, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Highland Church of Christ with Lynn Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
