Doug Sitter State Farm, one of two State Farm agencies in Sweetwater, has recently opened an office in the community. The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce honored the new office with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, March 23, 2012. The local office is located at 208 Lamar Street.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 138 calls for service, issued nine citations and made eight arrests from March 23-25, 2012.
The SPD received 57, 911 calls.

On Monday, March 26, 2012 God opened the gates of Heaven and Robert Oscar (Bob) Clark went home. He was welcomed by his mother and father and sisters and brother who had been waiting for him a long time. Bob lived in this world 91 years. He was born in Sylvester, Texas on Jan. 30, 1921, to Early Roy and Ethel Mae Clark. He was raised in Knox City and moved to Sweetwater at the age of eight years. He worked for various companies for many years. He was at M'System Grocery Store when it burned. He was at The Village Grocery when he retired in 1986.
Terrance Robert (Terry) Wells, 69, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
David Wayne Pritchard, 47, of Roscoe and formerly of Neosho, MO, died March 22, 2012, at his home, following a short illness. David was born Feb. 13, 1965, in Stella, MO, the son of Jerry E. and Lillys (Williams) Pritchard. He served in the U.S. Navy, Jan. 16, 1986, through Jan. 15, 1990, and currently owned and operated D and A Construction. David married Amy Bradshaw on Oct. 8, 1992, at Miami, OK and she survives.

Sweetwater High School’s varsity softball team will resume its season on Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. game at Brownwood. Craig Slaughter, Sweetwater High School's head football coach and athletic director the past three years, announced today that he is resigning to accept a similar position at Llano.
Slaughter has posted just a 9-21 record at Sweetwater, with three straight sub-.500 seasons and no playoff appearances, since replacing the highly-successful Kent Jackson in 2009 at a school known for its winning football tradition.
JavaJax recently hosted a special, mid-week live music performance on Wednesday evening, March 21. En route from Austin's SXSW (south by southwest) Music Festival to a show in Lubbock on March 22, Hudson Moore performed in Sweetwater.
