Louis Harry Flewharty was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Weatherford, Texas and passed away April 14, 2012. He married Gerry A. Rogers on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1957. Louis graduated from Texas A & M at Commerce in January of 1953 with B.A. degree in Business Administration. He spent two years in the United States Air Force. He was inducted into the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas and then spent three months in Cheyenne, Wyoming in Officerâ€™s Supply School. He was sent to Adak Island in Fairbanks, AK at Ladd Air Force Base. He worked for J.C. Penney Company from 1955 until 1987.
The Sweetwater Animal Shelter is currently closed and will remain closed for at least one week, until Monday, April 23, 2012, due to a recent outbreak of Parvo in the shelter.
"There have been a large number of Parvo cases in Nolan County recently both in my office, as well as at the East Ridge Veterinary Hospital," said Dr. Bud E. Alldredge, Veterinarian and owner of Sweetwater Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Alldredge is also the Nolan County Rabies Control Officer.
Final track results for the Sweetwater Middle School seventh grade girls are listed below for their meets that were held March 22 at Wall, March 30 at Colorado City and April 5 at Big Spring.
The team also competed on April 14 at their district meet held in Brownwood. This meet was the final one of the 2011-12 school year for all of the girls and boys track teams at SMS. Results will appear in a later edition as soon as they are reported.

AT WALL MEET

Morgan Shelton, a former Sweetwater High School athlete, has been named the Lone Star Conference Track Athlete of the Week follow-ing her outstanding performance for West Texas A&M University at the ASU/David Noble Relays in San Angelo, the league office announced on Thursday.
Shelton, who is a junior at WTAM, finished first in the womenâ€™s 100 hurdles with a school-record time of 14.08.
Sweetwaterâ€™s Alex Castil-lo, left, and Ryan Mercer won all-district honors at the District 5-3A golf tournament. Castillo shot 229 to place fourth among all district medalists and Mercer shot 237 to place ninth. Castillo advanced to the Region I-3A golf tournament that will be held Monday and Tuesday at San Angeloâ€™s Bentwood Country Club.
Sweetwater had track athletes with top-three finishes in five events at the District 5-3A meet which ended Thursday in Abilene. As a result, those athletes be heading to Lubbock later this month for regional competition.
On the boys side, Sweetwaterâ€™s Nick Nemir qualified in three events as he placed third in the 100 dash (10.88) and the 300 hurdles (40.31) and also ran a leg on the 4 x 200 relay that placed third (1:33.70). The other relay runners were Sam Nemir, who is Nickâ€™s brother, along with Kaleb Hoover and Ryan Linebaugh.
After a thrilling start to the week that saw Sweetwaterâ€™s softball team clinch its first playoff berth in 16 years, the Lady Mustangs hosted first-place Brownwood Friday and pounded out 10 hits off ace pitcher Sydney Laws â€” including solo homers by Suede Shirley and Claire Williams. It was not enough, however, as Brownwood (7-0) won, 15-3, to clinch its third straight district title.
With its playoff hopes on the brink of extinction, Sweetwaterâ€™s baseball team finally found the winning formula against Brownwood here Friday.
Playing the first game of a season-ending three-game homestand at Newman Park, the Mustangs (2-4) held off the Lions 4-3 to end a three-game skid and keep their postseason chances alive in District 5-3A.
MONDAY, APRIL 16
Sweetwater JV will play a doubleheader at Snyder starting at 5 p.m.
Sweetwaterâ€™s Alex Cas-tillo will compete as boys medalist at Region I-3A tournament in San Angelo through Tuesday, April 17.
TUESDAY, APRIL 17
Sweetwater varsity hosts Snyder, 7 p.m.
Sweetwater JV and varsity teams host Snyder, 5 and 6:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18
Sweetwater girls team (Alex Gomez, Rachel Hunt, Elise Lawrence, Haylee Stewart and Amy Witt) will be competing at Region I-3A tournament in San Angelo through Thursday, April 19.
