Essie “Louise” Foust Rawlings, 77, died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at the Oaks at Radford Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Gary Ruffin officiating, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. A visitation will be on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 6-7 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.

Nolan County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Dennis Cumbie, reminds producers to report crop losses resulting from a weather-related disaster event within 15 days of the disaster or when the loss first becomes apparent, this includes crops covered by crop insurance, the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) and crops without insurance coverage.
Many local students in grades second through eighth are currently attending a drama camp at Sweetwater High School, led by Sweetwater High School drama students and SHS drama teacher Melody Copeland. A show of Copeland's adaptation of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012, at the SHS Auditorium.
AAA Texas projects 2.98 million Texans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Independence Day holiday weekend, a 4.7 percent increase over last year. The Independence Day holiday travel period is defined as Tuesday, July 3 to Sunday, July 8.Â
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 55 calls for service, issued no citations and made one arrest on June 26, 2012.
The SPD received 42, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had five calls for service, served no civil papers and made one arrest on June 26, 2012.

A graveside service for Louise Rawlings, 76, of Sweetwater, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Sweetwater Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Rawlings died Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Oaks at Radford Hills Nursing Home in Abilene.

Sweetwater’s Little League all-star baseball teams began play in District 5 tournaments on Wednesday, and two of the three teams who saw action won.
Sweetwater’s 9-10 year-olds visited Snyder and won 8-7, while the 10-11 year-olds traveled to Clyde and romped to a 13-3 victory. However, Snyder came away with a 5-0 win over Sweetwa-ter in the 11-12 year-old division in a game held in Snyder.

Austin—The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has launched a new online map application, Drive Texas™, that provides travelers with real-time traffic conditions, traffic and weather feeds, as well as links to other useful travel information.
Texas State Technical College West Texas will host a special culinary class on Friday, June 29, for spouses of deployed Dyess Air Force Base personnel.
The four-course gourmet meal includes blue cheese stuffed-bacon wrapped bosc pears, butternut squash soup, roasted chicken with wild mushroom duxelles and polenta and fall fruit parfait. Each of the participants will work alongside Chef Coby to create the meal.
