Avondale Baptist Church hosted a block party on the corner of Hailey and Lou Streets, across from the Village Apartments, on Saturday, July 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Church members set up games with prizes, made cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones and hot dogs for lunch.

Another “All Class Reunion” for Homecoming 2012 is planned for Saturday, Sept. 8, from 2 p.m. to midnight at the Sweetwater High School Cafeteria, according to Linda Kiser Browning Miller, event director.
Jeff Stein of KXOX Radio will be the emcee, and Big Boys BBQ will cater the supper at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. and a short program will be held at 5 p.m. After the barbecue supper, J.B. Cloud of KBCY Radio of Abilene will serve as D.J. for the music and dance beginning at about 7:30 p.m. The D.J. will present music from the 50’s to the present.
Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department (SNCHD), located at 301 E.12th, will have their annual immunization fun day event on Wednesday, July 11 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-6 p.m. This is a normal day for immunization clinic but the health department has set this day to emphasize the importance of making sure your child’s immunizations are up-to-date.
Six county employees were recognized for their service during the Nolan County Commissioners' meeting held at the Nolan County Courthouse on Monday morning, July 9, 2012.
Those in attendance to receive their service awards were Jan Bartlett for her 20 years as the Justice of the Peace Chief Deputy, David McDonald for his 15 years of service as Sheriff Chief Deputy, and Robert McReynolds for his 10 years as the Coliseum Manager.
Several county employees were honored with a Service Award during the Nolan County Commissioners' meeting on Monday morning, July 9, 2012, held at the Nolan County Courthouse.
Pictured is Jan Bartlett with Judge Tim Fambrough; Bartlett has served as the Justice of the Peace Chief Deputy for the past 20 years. Also at the meeting, David McDonald was awarded a 15 year service pin for his role as Sheriff Chief Deputy.
Robert McReynolds was also recognized at the meeting on Monday morning for his 10 years as the Nolan County Coliseum Manager.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 153 calls for service, issued 12 citations and made four arrests from July 6-8, 2012.
The SPD received 69, 911 calls.

Arrested by SPD:
A graveside service for Randy Logan Hardy, 56, of Anson, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Payne officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Hardy died Monday, July 9, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Chelsea Ann Fullwood, 17, of Dayton, Texas died Friday, July 6, 2012 in Liberty, Texas. She was born Nov. 19, 1994, in Abilene, Texas to parents Gary Lynn and Tracy Ann Kimbrell Fullwood. She had lived in the Colorado City and Dayton areas during the past few years. Chelsea enjoyed listening to music, drawing, taking pictures and doing all kinds of handcraft projects.Â
