One person entered a plea to Judge Glen Harrison during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings on Monday, July 23, 2012.
Henry William Shelton, along with his attorney Paul Hanneman, pled true to revoking his probation. He was originally put on probation on July 21, 2009, for possession of a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, a state jail felony.
The Nolan County Commissioners met for their regular meeting on Monday morning, July 23, 2012 at the Nolan County Courthouse.
Among the action items presented, approval was given toward the renewal of their health insurance with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) for 2012-2013. Tommy Morris and Nancy Johnson with the company discussed the various rates and credits from the health, dental and life policies.
Nolan County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Dennis Cumbie, reminds producers to report crop losses resulting from a weather-related disaster event within 15 days of the disaster or when the loss first becomes apparent; this includes crops covered by crop insurance, the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) and crops without insurance coverage.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 121 calls for service, issued 38 citations and made four arrests from July 20-22, 2012.
The SPD received 71, 911 calls.

• Michael Amos, 49 — Public intoxication.
• Donald Hill, 20 — Deadly conduct.
• Daniel Luera, 39 — Driving while license invalid.
• Rodolfo Garza, 45 — Possession of a controlled substance.
The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had 19 calls for service, served no civil papers and made four arrests from July 20-22, 2012.

Funeral services for Janet Renee Roland, 52, of Blackwell, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Daniel Dotson officiating. Interment will follow at Blackwell Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Roland died Monday, July 23, 2012, in San Angelo.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) invites citizens to attend a public meeting about a project to rehabilitate Lamar Street (BS 70-G) on Tuesday, July 24, from 1-8 p.m. in the administration classroom at the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital at 200 E. Arizona Avenue in Sweetwater.
The proposed project would improve Lamar Street from Avenue B to I-20. Work would include rehabilitating the existing roadway with new base, asphalt pavement, sidewalks, signs and pavement markings. Plans call for the project to be built in phases with one side of Lamar Street closed at a time.

Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital Diabetic Outreach recently offered free diabetic and cholesterol screenings to the public at Mt. Rose Baptist Church, located at 108 Hubbard Street on Wednesday, July 18. Blood pressure checks were also provided.

Tens of thousands of families mourn the loss of loved ones each year to a variety of diseases. Adding to the heartbreak, their death could have been prevented if proper vaccinations were administered.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month and as the month approaches, Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) wants to remind families and individuals in the community to catch up on their vaccinations. This is especially important as the new school year begins.
Graveside services for Carl Adward Henkell, 63, of Sweetwater, will be held at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Henkell died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 3, 1947, in Temple, Texas. He married Mary Hoskins Kamer on July 4, 2003. Carl had lived in Sweetwater for 30 years working for Taylor Tire Company and Dent Trucking Lines as a truck driver. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. Carl was a Baptist.
John W. Richardson, age 93, formerly of Sweetwater, Texas, died July 12, 2012, in McGregor, Texas. Graveside services were held at the Little Chapel by the Lake at Colonial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral home at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2012. Interment was in Colonial Gardens Cemetery. Services were officiated by Rev. James Frazier.
