Reserved season tickets for Sweetwater High Schoolâ€™s 2012 football season were up for renewal to current option holders beginning this past Monday and the renewal period will continue through Friday, Aug. 3.
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be holding its 15th annual First Bank Texas/FCA Golf Fellowship Friday, Aug. 10 at the Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene. The annual tournament is used to cre-ate awareness of the FCAâ€™s ministry outreach, and also to raise funds to support programs and activities which are associated with the local FCA chapters in the Big Country.
The tournament will in-clude hole-in-one prizes and special hole prizes. The cost will be $125 for indivi-duals, and is $600 for team sponsorships which will include sign registration.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 39 calls for service, issued three citations and made four arrests on July 12, 2012.
The SPD received 21, 911 calls.

In March at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Show, Latimer Burnett won the Champion Hampshire Light Weight Division with her barrow "Ernie".
Ernie was a Certified Texas Bred Pig and was purchased from Corey Rains of Lamesa, TX, a Texas Breeder that is supporting Texas students.
The Certified Texas Bred Registry is now in its 14th year of rewarding 4-H and FFA students who purchase their show swine from Texas Breeders. During this time, CTBR breeders have contributed over $320,000 in premiums and prizes to thousands of students that raised Certified Texas Bred Pigs.
On Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at about 7:30 a.m., the Nolan County Sheriffâ€™s Office received a report of a burglary that took place in the 1700 block of F.M. 1856, Lake Sweetwater area. It was reported that unknown person(s) entered several buildings at this location and took several thousand dollars worth of personal items. A witness noticed a black Dodge extended cab, 4X4 pick up truck, with heavy front end damage and a broken windshield parked in the area.
The John Wayne Film Fest (JWFF) returns to Snyder, Texas for the second year in a row this Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 31-Sept. 2. Held at the town's historic Ritz Theater on the square, this is a rare opportunity to see some of the Duke's most legendary films on the big screen. The weekend will begin on Friday at noon with the classic Rio Lobo, and include screenings of True Grit, Red River, The Quiet Man andÂ TheÂ Green Berets, among others.
The Texas AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a tree health program from 6-8 p.m. July 17, in the meeting room on the third floor of the Nolan County Courthouse in Sweetwater.
Zach Wilcox, AgriLife Extension agent in Nolan County, said the programâ€™s main objective will be to determine what, if anything, can be done with the many landscape trees affected by last yearâ€™s record heat and drought.
The Storybook Theatre will be visiting the County-City Library on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. The group will be performing The New Little Red Riding Hood, a classic story that emphasizes the importance of character traits with a splash of environmental awareness. This is the second year for the group to perform in Sweetwater. Last year's show was Two Pigs and T.H.E. Wolf. The Storybook Theatre is on the approved roster of artists with the Texas Commission on the Arts.
Get A Clue With Music with Kenny Salazar was held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at the County-City Library for children in grades fourth through sixth. Kenny showed the children various instruments, demonstrating how to play them and what sounds they can make. The children were allowed to try their hands at the different instruments before making their own guitars and drums.
