(Abilene) â Texas State Technical College West Texas will graduate 138 highly-skilled graduates for the Texas workforce. Â As the oil and gas industries boom throughout West Texas, engineers are being snapped up. Â Aaron Hall, the student speaker at graduation on Friday, has been working full-time at Stellar Automation for three months. Stellar Automation, located in Big Spring, focuses on engineering needs for the oil and gas industries.Â
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 32 calls for service, issued no citations and made two arrests on Aug. 15, 2012.
The SPD received 16, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had four calls for service, served no civil papers and made four arrests on Aug. 15, 2012.

Ellie "Jack" Parker, 65, of Sweetwater, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, a Nolan Nursing and Rehab. His wishes were to be cremated and no other services are planned. McCoy Funeral Home carried out his wishes.
Parker was born January 20, 1947, in Waterloo, Alabama.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Parker, of Roby, Texas; brother, David Parker & wife Shirley of Emery, Texas; and sister-in-law, Vicki Newman of Roby, Texas.
