Eleven years ago on this day, America came under attack by terrorist forces. Tuesday, September 11, 2001 would be forever remembered as a day full of sorrow and senselessness when almost 3,000 lives were lost at the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C, and a field in rural Pennsylvania.
During their regular meeting on Monday morning, September 10, 2012, the Nolan County Commissioners set a date to vote on the 2012-2013 property tax rate.
Prior to setting the date, the second public hearing was held on the proposed property tax rate for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. No input was heard, but it was acknowledged that the proposed rate of .394635 per $100 valuation--the combination of the general fund rate of .340670 and the farm to market rate of .053965, both per $100 valuation--is three cents lower than the current rate.
