The Nolan County Hospital District Board of Directors welcomed a new board member at their meeting on Monday night, December 17, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

First United Methodist Church will be presenting â€śSounds of the Seasonâ€ť tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the FUMC Sanctuary. The program consists of contemporary Christmas music as well as a live nativity scene with adults and children.
â€śWeâ€™ve been working on the program for about a month,â€ť says Lori Ortega, who is directing the program. Martha Taylor is the accompanist.
â€śSounds of the Seasonâ€ť boasts an adult and childrenâ€™s choir, as well as a bell choir. Soloists for the childrenâ€™s choir are Devin Gutierrez, Samantha Jones, and Allison Marlett.
Sweetwater ISD (Independent School District) will be revisiting their school safety plans following the horror that unfolded at the Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday, December 14 in Newtown, Connecticut, killing 20 students and six teachers.
As part of his Superintendent's Report during the December 17 meeting of the SISD Board of Trustees, Terry Pittman stated that procedures are already in place on the campuses, such as in the front office areas to enter the buildings. Additionally, each classroom door can be locked, which could slow down a potential attacker.
An Amber Alert has been issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) for Jonathan Jose Guillen, Jr. He was last seen in San Antonio, Texas on Dec. 13, 2012 at 12:15 a.m.
Jonathan was born Jan. 13, 2012. He is Hispanic, is 2'6" tall, weighs 25 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.
The suspect is Jonathan Guillen, Sr., Hispanic male, 23 years old, date of birth is Nov. 22, 1989. He is 5'8" tall, 185 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white muscle shirt with black or red shorts.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 54 calls for service, issued four citations and made two arrests on Dec. 17, 2012.
The SPD received 28, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had seven calls for service, served no civil papers and made no arrests on Dec. 17, 2012.

Funeral services for Darvin Royce Hunter, 57, of Murphy, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Brian Brownlow officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Hunter died Tuesday. Dec. 18, in Dallas.

Sweetwater, Texas â€” Thomas J. Wimmer, age 72, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, in Sweetwater, Texas. Graveside services are at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Rev. Philip Thomas officiating. Services are under the direction of the McCoy Funeral Home.
Thomas was born on April 29, 1940, in Oklahoma. He married Dorothy Sedden on Dec. 30, 1965, in Sweetwater. He was parts manager for Carmichael Ford, Bledsoe Ford and Championship Ford. He retired in 2004.
Funeral services for Donald Ray Worsham, Sr., 73, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Freddie Gillentine and Russell Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 21, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Worsham died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab Center.
Charles Harlan Reeves 88, of Robinson passed away surrounded by his loving family Monday December 17, 2012. Services will be 1 PM Thursday, December 20, with a visitation from 11 am â€“ 1 pm at Pecan Grove Funeral Home 3124 Robinson Dr., with Bishop Don Connell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
After missing the first 11 games of the 2012-13 basketball season due to an injury he suffered at the end of football season, Sweetwaterâ€™s Kaleb Hoover showed little rust in his return Tuesday night against Colorado City.
In fact, last seasonâ€™s district Newcomer of the Year appears ready for the start of 4-3A action which is less than a month away. The 6-1 junior scored a team-high 19 points in leading the Mustangs to a 45-42 victory, completing a doubleheader sweep at Sweetwaterâ€™s gym.
