The first Shale Show is currently going on at the Nolan County Coliseum complex in Sweetwater and will continue tomorrow with roughly 200 indoor and outdoor oil industry exhibits set-up. Exhibitors arrived from more than a dozen states and from all energy regions of Texas. Exhibits include drilling rigs, helicopter ambulance, dozens of heavy vehicles indoors and out, two buildings of indoor trade show booths, high-profile speakers, etc.

The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Doug Sitter State Farm, located at 208 Lamar Street.

Bettye Scott, age 68, of Sweetwater, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Carey officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Bettye was born on April 8, 1945 in Hubbard, Texas to R. K. and Elvan (Smith) Jackson. She married Eugene Scott, Sr. on April 22, 1965 in Sweetwater. She worked for U.S. Gypsum for 22 years before retiring.
