Doug Sitter State Farm is taking toiletry donations again this year for the West Texas Childrenâs Advocacy Center.
What the center does this time of year is give all the families they help throughout the year toiletries just before Christmas in addition to putting up the Angel Tree at Wal-Mart. Donations can be dropped off at 208 Lamar Street.
Those wishing to donate cash may do so and Doug Sitter State Farm will buy the toiletry items to be donated. All donations are appreciated.
Forming nearly four years ago in their hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, The City Harmonic went from anonymity to widespread acclaim with their major hit âManifesto,â headlining tours across North America and gathering numerous awards along the way.
The final shipment of hygiene products for the Bravo company 2-149 GSAB (General Support Aviation Battalion), a military unit out of Grand Prairie that is presently stationed in Bagram, Afghanistan, will be sent on Friday, Nov. 29.
The first care package sent to the Bravo company was this past July. The company consists of 122 soldiers, with four of them being female â one of which includes Ruby Montoya, the daughter of Sweetwater resident and package coordinator Minnie Cortez.
Sweetwater High School junior Alex Moschella recently published his second book. His most recent work is a collection of poetry titled "Pathways" and can be purchased at Amazon.com.
Moschella spent many years of his childhood undergoing tests and later experienced vivid imaginary play, where his imagination mixed with reality. He was later diagnosed with high-functioning autism/Asperger's syndrome.
There will be no residential refuse service on Nov. 28, or Nov. 29, in order for City of Sweetwater employees to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families. All residential containers will be serviced during the remainder of the holiday week. The landfill and "citizens drop-off center" will be closed on those two days. All hand pick-up customers and roll-out cart service will be serviced on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
Commercial refuse customers will be picked up on Friday, Nov. 29. Commercial customers whose pick up is on Thursdays will be picked up on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
The Woman's Forum recently made a donation in the amount of $2,259 to the Pioneer Museum from their Evening at the Museum/Pumpkins on the Porch event.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Elvira Garza Caballero, 86, of Sweetwater will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Deacon Bill Butler will officiate and interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Caballero died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
She was born March 28, 1927 in Goliad, Texas. She married Francisco "Frank" Caballero in 1946 in Sinton, Texas.
Military graveside services for James Everett âJimâ Lane, Jr., 59, of Hermleigh, formerly of Sweetwater, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013 at Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery in Goldthwaite, Texas with Pastor Doug Holtzclaw officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, from 6:30-9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Lane died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, in Hermleigh, Texas. He was born April 25, 1954, in Midland.
Vesta Lea Wilson, 62, died early Monday morning, Nov. 25, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at Highland Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Clower will be officiating and interment will follow at Decker Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
There will be a formal family visitation on Friday at Highland Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until service time.
Vesta, lovingly know as âSisâ was born in Sweetwater, Texas on Aug. 11, 1951 to Jack and Beulah Chapman. She married Don L. Wilson Nov. 4, 1973 in Blackwell, Texas.
