Sammy Sanchez, age 40, of Sweetwater, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Hendrick Medical Center.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Lupe Medellin. .
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 at Holy Spirit Parish (Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church) with Rev. Charles Okonkwo officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

After we rolled into the sleepy little town of Sweetwater, Texas, from New Mexico, the natives looked happy to see us, which was a surprise. Pretty soon after our wind-driven trip, we were lassoed by matrons wanting to use us for their annual Tumbleweed Snowmen displays. Shorty, my sidekick, was placed atop Betsy, my medium-size girlfriend of many miles. I was the base of this new operation, I guess because I am quite rotund.

Roy Howard Tucker, age 76, of Fort Stockton, passed away Dec. 22, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer. Howard was born Aug. 23, 1937, in Blackwell to W.O. and Mary Blair Tucker. He married Leona Mae Backhaus on Jan. 9, 1958, in Roscoe. Howard worked as a construction inspector for the Texas Highway Department in Sweetwater, Stanton and Fort Stockton, where he retired after 36 years of employment. He was an Elder of Faith Lutheran Church in Fort Stockton for 45 years. He also served for many years on the Board of El Buen Vecino, the Fort Stockton Christian Thrift Store.
Suddenlink in Sweetwater has once again donated to the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center. Pictured are Madison Black and Teresa Zarate with WTCAC and Mark Crain, Leticia Morales, Marla Reddic and David Weaver all with Suddenlink. This is the fourth year for Suddenlink to donate to the WTCAC.
Pictured are Paul Romero and Dietary Supervisor, Brenda Hollis. Romero was named the 2013 RPMH February Employee of the Month and was voted Employee of the Year by his co-workers. He has been with RPMH since January 2001. He and his wife Michelle live in Sweetwater and have four children, Bianca, Nick, Aaron and Lindsey.
