As citizens who serve children and represent their communities, individual school board members face complex and demanding challenges. Yet, few people fully understand the scope and far-reaching implications of board members’ responsibilities. SW teams must beat Monahans to keep playoff hopes in 4-3A

January 29, 2013

Sweetwater’s basketball teams may well have to win at Monahans today in order to hold on to any realistic hopes of a District 4-3A playoff berth.
That’s certainly true for the Sweetwater boys (1-4), who are two games behind Monahans (3-2), which is currently in third place.
But the Sweetwater girls (3-4) also need a win as they trail Big Spring (4-3) by a game for the No. 3 spot after losing three straight. They face a Monahans team that is 0-7, and Sweetwater probably has to win tonight and at home this Friday against 1-6 Snyder to have a realistic shot of getting to the playoffs.
