Area home school students and their parents toured the Sweetwater Reporter office on Friday, learning the ins and outs of printing a daily newspaper.
Participating in the tour were Sonya Hudson and her children, Leah, Bethany, Derrick, Tyler and Sean; Tiffany Rule and her children, Jayden and Evan; Natalie Barela; Renee Duffield and her children, Calvin, Donovan, Josephine and Henry; and Andrea Ryan and her children, Esther, Caleb and Sam.
The group listened intently and asked questions about the newspaper business during the tour. The tour was given by Belinda Serrano, staff writer.
Billy (Bill) Thompson, age 84, of Sweetwater, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric VonAtzigen officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Funeral services for Morris M. Guelker, 87, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at McCoy Funeral Home with Rev. James Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Guelker died Saturday, Jan. 26, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Roscoe, Texas â€” John Settle Bostick, Sr., age 82 of Roscoe, passed away Jan. 26, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Roscoe with Rev. Adam Davis and Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Round Mountain Cemetery in Fisher County, Texas. McCoy Funeral Home of Roscoe is in charge of arrangements. A visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
The Sweetwater freshman boys basketball team is 6-4 for the season.

The Sweetwater junior varsity boys basketball team finally got up its first win Friday with a 46-45 victory at Midland Greenwood.
Jonathan Browning had a team-high 13 points and Marquees Jenkins 10 for the Mustangs, who won for the first time in 13 games this season and are 1-4 in district play.
Colton Belew had eight points, Trey Taylor and Deshaun Williams seven and Matthew Trevino one.
The freshman boys, how-ever, fell to 6-4 for the sea-son and are still winless in district play after losing to Midland Greenwood 51-43.
Sweetwater Little League baseball will have signups for T-Ball (ages 4-6) and Minor League (9-10) from 6-8 p.m. today at the Sweet-water Middle School choir room. Additional signups will be held Friday at the same location, and also from 6-8 p.m., for T-Ball, Major League (ages 11-12) and Junior League (13-14).

Sweetwater 7th and 8th grade â€˜Aâ€™ and â€˜Bâ€™ girls play at Snyder at 5 and 6 p.m., respectively.
Roscoe junior high teams will host Loraine starting at 5 p.m.
Highland junior high teams will play at Hermleigh starting at 6 p.m.
Blackwell junior high teams will host Paint Rock starting at 6 p.m.
Sweetwater varsity hosts Clyde in season-opening scrimmage, 6 p.m.
TUESDAY, JAN. 29
Sweetwater girls at Mona-hans â€” JV at 5 p.m., varsity at 6:15 p.m., freshmen at 7:30 p.m.
Alicia Finn of Sweetwat-er, now a freshman on the Hardin-Simmons womenâ€™s basketball team, had the best game of her young college career Thursday.
Finn, a 6-0 center, had a career-high 15 points and was 7-for-7 from the field, while also making her only free throw attempt, in HSUâ€™s 76-75 double-overtime victory over Schreiner at HSUâ€™s Mabee Complex.
Finn nearly doubled her previous high (8 points) set against LeTourneau in a 66-62 win on Jan. 5.
GREENWOOD â€” Both of Sweetwaterâ€™s varsity basketball teams struggled on the road Friday as the girls fell to Midland Greenwood, 45-27, while the boys lost 75-42 in their contest.
Both teams make their longest road trip in district play on Tuesday for a dou-bleheader at Monahans.
GIRLS: Greenwood 45, Sweetwater 27
Sweetwater (3-4 district) fell three games behind second-place Greenwood (6-1), which has lost only to Wylie (7-0) in district play.
Shelby Cason got Sweet-water within five (25-20) when she scored at the end of the third quarter.
