BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
A few years ago, I had the privilege of taking a mission trip to Greenland. One evening, I was sitting on a mountain overlooking 10 small lakes. The beauty was like a dream. I could hear the wind blowing softly, the birds nesting in the trees, and the ice cracking in the ocean. It was such an amazing site.
I have heard others speak of the same of the Sea of Galilee. They say it is one of the most beautiful bodies of water on earth and the old rabbis used to say that God created all the other seas, and then He created the Sea of Galilee just for Himself. Â
Now that the New Year has begun, Cornerstone Christian School has come up with an event to help the whole family get a good start on their health for 2013. Beat the Street for Little Feet will serve as a fun, healthy activity for the family to enjoy together while providing funds for the school’s expansion efforts.
The Highland girls bas-ketball team has been here before. Two years ago, they were also at the Region II-A tourney at Abilene Christian University where they lost to Newcastle in the semifinals. This year’s team hopes for a much different outcome when it plays Baird in the semifinals at 7 p.m. today.
The ultimate goal will be to do something no Highland team has done — go to the state tournament in Austin. That means the Lady Hornets (29-4) must not only defeat Baird (26-6) but also beat Garden City or Eula, who play in today’s other semifinal, in the II-A final on Saturday.
Eight Nolan County high school seniors will play in a total of three all-star games as part of the Big Country Chevy Dealers-Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Festival this summer.

The remains found belong to Gabriel Salinas, born March 29, 1948. His last known permanent address was in Gruver, Texas; however, Salinas worked and lived in different places throughout the area.
