Richard Davison, age 63, of Sweetwater, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
His body was cremated. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Sweetwaterâ€™s 10-5 victory at Monahans clinched the baseball teamâ€™s first playoff berth in nine years.
The Mustangs can reach another goal â€” winning a district championship â€” with a victory over Wylie on Saturday afternoon.
Regional berths will be sought today by 15 Sweet-water High School athletes â€” nine girls and six boys â€” who are competing in the area track meet at Pecos.
Their goals are to secure a top-four finish and advance to the Region I-3A meet set for April 26-27 in Lubbock.
The boys will be led by Nick Nemir, who has qualified to compete in four events for the Mustangs â€” the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles, long jump and as a member of the 400-meter relay â€” and is trying for his third straight trip to the regional meet.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 60 calls for service, issued one citation and made no arrests on April 17, 2013.
The SPD received 38, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had three calls for service, served one civil paper and made one arrest on April 17, 2013.

Several people were jailed and some were put on community supervision after entering pleas to Judge Glen Harrison during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings this week.
Sweetwater was well represented at the capital in Austin on Wednesday. Texas State Technical College was holding its "day" at the capital to promote TSTC and technical training. TSTC is also promoting a "Downhole Tool Technician" program for the oil and gas industry. The Downhole Tool Technician program length is only 15 weeks. Presentations on two upcoming projects in the area were discussed during the Cline Shale Alliance's quarterly luncheon, held recently at TSTC (Texas State Technical College) in Sweetwater.
Sweetwater Mayor Greg Wortham examined the BridgeTex Pipeline and oil storage terminal, which is coming about through the joint efforts of Magellan Midstream Partners and Occidental Petroleum (OXY) in 2014. The latter company will lead oil expertise services, while Magellan will assist in the construction.
Several Roscoe Collegiate High School students were recently inducted into the Psi Zeta Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society of Western Texas College.Â Newly inducted members from Roscoe Collegiate include Eva Aguayo, Brant Burnett, Amber Craig, Rene Diaz, Shelby Higgins, Kendall Moses, Jose Rangel, Luke Rovig, Shelton Toliver and Whitney Williams.

Preparations are now in their final stages for Roscoeâ€™s Spring Fling festival, and once again a large crowd is expected. In addition to the usual street vendors, kidsâ€™ bounce houses, free concert, fireworks show and other attractions downtown on Broadway and Cypress Streets, other events will be taking place all day long in various venues.
