Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development (SEED), the sales tax entity that is responsible for Economic Development in Sweetwater, hosted a Cline Shale public forum for those interested in learning more about the Cline Shale Oil Play and how it affects West Texas. The forum was held on Thursday, June 27, in the Historic Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium.

We have all heard the question, â€śWould you let your doctor work on your car or let your mechanic perform your surgery?â€ťÂ We live in a day of specialists.Â My father use to say of a person, â€śHe is a jack of all trades and a master of none.â€ťÂ That generally means a person can do a little bit of everything, but canâ€™t do anything great.Â
The Water Works Underwater LEGO Robotics Camp will take place July 15-19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at Roscoe Collegiate High School. Twenty young women ages 14-18 will participate in the camp. There are no fees as the camp is research project funded. Participants just have to fill out a research evaluation on what they learned at the end of the camp.
The wait is over. McDonald's in Sweetwater will officially be open to the public at midnight on July 1. The restaurant closed on March 31 and was completely knocked down and rebuilt in the same location at 201 NE Georgia. The new store will be open 24/7 in both lobby and drive-thru.
During the Grand Opening, from midnight to 5 a.m. Big Macs will be sold for just $1 each.
Dale Adams, the General Manager of the Wes-Tex Groundwater Conservation District, presented an informative program of water and conservation to the Sweetwater Kiwanis Club during their weekly, noontime meeting held at Broadway Baptist Church.
Within Nolan County, three aquifers are present: the Edwards-Trinity, the Blaine and the Dockum. Visuals were provided showing the placement of the three water sources and their proximity to cities within the county.
Sweetwaterâ€™s four Little League teams continue play this weekend in Abilene at District 5 tournaments being held at various fields.
All four teams saw action Thursday, and Sweetwaterâ€™s Junior League (13-14) all-stars won big (25-4) against Jim Ned in their opening bracket game.
Sweetwaterâ€™s 11-12 year-old all-star team also began bracket play Thursday but lost their game, 14-3, to Abilene Eastern, while results for the Sweetwaterâ€™s 9-10 year-old all-stars faced Snyder in their first bracket game and also lost, 17-11.

Saturday's high will top out around the century mark, but we'll have a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the entire weekend. Sunday will bring a decrease in temperatures, as the high will be around 90. Weekend lows will be in the lower 70s.
