All Texas State Technical College West Texas locations (Abilene, Breckenridge, Brownwood and Sweetwater) will be planting the seeds of science, technology, engineering and math with its BLOSSOM: STEM in Bloom! program.
BLOSSOM will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23 in Sweetwater and Abilene and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, in Breckenridge and Brownwood. BLOSSOM is for girls ages 13 and older.
Sweetwater City Manager Eddie Brown presented a report during the recent regular meeting of the Sweetwater City Commission.
Brown stated that the next meeting, to be held July 23, will be an important meeting where commissioners will review requests for proposals and qualifications and award contracts for financial advisors, bond counsel and engineers for the Hunter Well Field Construction Project.
Each week volunteers help out with Gaylordâ€™s Pantry at First United Methodist Church, giving food to those in need in Sweetwater.

Emergency services from the Sweetwater Fire Departments responded to several wrecks in Nolan County on Tuesday that were said to be related to the rainfall received throughout the day.
No transports were made in the two-vehicle wreck shown above that occurred on Lamar Street. One person was transported in another minor wreck on the corner of Neff and Alabama Streets in which one vehicle failed to yield and struck another vehicle.

The National Weather Service in San Angelo has issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of West Central Texas including the following counties: Fisher, Nolan, Sterling, Coke, Runnels, Irion, Tom Green, Concho, Crockett, Schleicher, Sutton, Haskell, Throckmorton, Jones, Shackelford, Taylor, Callahan, Coleman, Brown, McCulloch, San Saba, Menard, Kimble and Mason.

A flash flood watch continues today across all of West Central Texas.
Several local churches came together this past week to take part in this year's Sweetwater Outreach Week. Two houses were painted and several lawns were mowed around town for people in need.
According to Jamie Witt, this year's Sweetwater Outreach Week coordinator, the event began about six years ago at Fourth and Elm Church of Christ. "Our outreach minister at the time, Doug Crum, began the project and got other local churches involved with it and we are just trying to keep it going each year."
Jerry Smith and Mike Sode of Lansing, Mich., are on an 8,500 mile bicycle ride to raise awareness for at-risk youth and youth obesity. They are creating hope and inspiring the world by traveling through the 25 fattest cities, according to the Men's Fitness Magazine 2012 list, ending at The Biggest Loser Ranch in Los Angeles, Calif.
NOLAN COUNTY â€“ Both main lanes of westbound I-20 at the US 84 overpass in Nolan County are scheduled for closure July 17-18 for ongoing bridge replacement work.
Westbound I-20 will be closed during the afternoon of July 17 to allow crews to pour the deck of the new bridge. All interstate lanes are expected to be open by the afternoon of July 18. The entire project is expected to be completed by early fall.
