22-year-old Nicholas Barton of Sweetwater, a paramedic with the Sweetwater Fire Department, was critically injured in a motorcycle wreck on Wednesday morning in Fisher County.
Barton was eastbound on his motorcycle on FM 57 at 9:15 a.m. A westbound Dodge Ram pickup turned in front of Barton, and the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Dodge.
Barton was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock in critical condition.
Nolan County Attorney Administrative Assistant Kandy Myers recently retired from her position at the Nolan County Courthouse after 13 years of service.

Eliseo V. Gomez, age 83, of Sweetwater, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at his residence.
A rosary will be held Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at 7 p.m. at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Chapel, recited by Lupe Medellin.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles Okonkwo officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, Chamber members, community members, friends and family helped to mark the official opening of the new Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital Physicians Clinic with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday morning.
Doctors who will be in the new clinic are Dr. Robert Eaker, Dr. Summer Walthall, Dr. Tim Jones, Dr. Ron Dennis and Family Nurse Practitioner Marcie Crisp.
Three people have recently entered pleas during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings.
Oscar Charles Walton was sentenced to four years of community supervision after he pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of identifying information, a state jail felony. He will also have to pay a $4,000 fine, $343 in court costs and $500 in attorney's fees. Walton will also have to serve 120 hours of community service.

Bobby Jack Bentle, age 57, of Spring, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013 at St. Lukeâ€™s Hospital in The Woodlands, due to complications from heart surgery.

Freeman, a 1997 Roscoe High School graduate, was a star player there during the mid-1990s and later played collegiately at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene before starting his coaching career.
