âBack to Church Sunday,â part of a national movement of churches across America, will be held at First Baptist Church in Sweetwater at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 15. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Tuesday, September 10 was declared Wes Bishop Day through the reading of a proclamation by Sweetwater Mayor Greg Wortham.
Twelve years ago on this day, America came under attack by terrorist forces. Tuesday, September 11, 2001 would be forever remembered as a day full of sorrow and senselessness when almost 3,000 lives were lost at the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C, and a field in rural Pennsylvania.
The burn ban for Nolan County was reinstated at the county commissioners' meeting held on Monday morning.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Tony Lara made the motion, which was seconded by Terry Willman, Precinct 1 Commissioner and then approved by all four commissioners. The burn ban will be considered again by the commissioners at their next regular meeting.
Also during the meeting, a public hearing was held on the 2013-2014 proposed budget. No input was heard, and no changes were noted for the proposed budget.
