A Rosary service for Ismael Silva, 53, of Sweetwater will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Cremation will be in Piedras Negras, Mexico.
A Rosary will also be said on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at Flores Funeral Home in AcuĂ±a, Mexico.
Silva died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at his residence in Sweetwater.
Sweetwater High School senior Megan Carney was crowned the 2013 Homecoming Queen during halftime of Friday nightâ€™s football game. She is the daughter of James Carney and Bryan and Tricia Gregory. She was escorted by Max Gomez.
Shale Show 2013 will take place Tuesday-Wednesday, Oct. 1-2 at the Nolan County Coliseum in Sweetwaterâ€™s Newman Park. Shale Show is the inaugural version of an energy technology showcase, business networking, and information sharing event that will be held in every odd-numbered year in Sweetwater, in the heart of the Cline Shale and America's Energy Solutions Region.
Shale Show is open free to the oil and gas industry, regional leaders and businesses, and to the general public. A very limited number of indoor and outdoor display spaces are still available for a fee.
The Kid Scoop page, a weekly feature of the Sweetwater Reporter, is a child-friendly tool that teaches kids about English, science, history and other subjects. The page is used as part of the NIE program (Newspapers in Education), which allows students to have access to the local newspaper in the classroom.
NIE is provided to local students through the sponsorship of several local businesses. But the top of the Kid Scoop page lists its sponsor â€” the family of Chad Lindsey.
The Nolan County United Way (NCUW) is set to kick off their 2013-2014 campaign, "United We Are STRONG," this coming week, Sept. 23-27.
During that week, agency representatives and board members will be visiting with area businesses asking for their support as well as thanking the many loyal contributors that helped raise over $70,000 this past year.
