A Nolan County Grand Jury indicted 13 people this week. Seven of those indictments were sealed. The following cases were true-billed:
Zachary Dearen Coe was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, a state jail felony. According to court documents, Coe possessed less than one gram of the controlled substance on Nov. 5, 2012. His bond was set at $7,500.
Adam Jacob Aguilar was indicted for harassment a by person in a correctional facility, a third degree felony. His bond was set at $25,000.
Southeast Elementary held a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new stage curtains on Thursday morning.
Principal Peggy Elliott cut the ribbon surrounded by Chamber Red Coats, several Southeast students, PTO President Jana Hall, Annie Miles, and contributors Dr. Larry May and wife Debbie.
A projector screen will be installed on stage in the coming weeks as well.
The Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development, or SEED, hosted the fall meeting of the Nolan County Forward Planning committee on Wednesday at the Sweetwater Country Club.
The gathering allowed community leaders from various fields to converge and discuss the impact and consequences from the incoming Cline Shale oil development.
Among the opening discussion was an update on the public forum held on June 27, which featured speakers Jeff Labenz-Hough, Robert Reyes and Vanessa Zientek. Overall, the committee felt that the forum was very informative.
RPMH took the next step in considering future renovations to the campus by action of the board during Monday nightâs meeting.
After obtaining some direction from the board at the August meeting, David White with McKinstry gave an update on potential Phase 4 upgrades of the 37 year old facility which would include, but not be limited to Surgery, Intensive Care and Obstetrics. Consideration of an outpatient dialysis center and in house MRI was also included.
Funeral services for Zula E. Hunt, 91, of Sweetwater, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Donald Hunt and Rev. Danny Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at McCoy Funeral Home.
Hunt died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab in Sweetwater.
Arthur Vernon Sager, Jr., age 87, of Sweetwater, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Okla. with Brother Tim Emmons officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, Okla. Local arrangements by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Sweetwater varsity hosts Brownwood, 7:30 p.m.
Roscoe varsity at Baird (district opener and Roscoe Mum Night), 7:30 p.m.
Highland varsity will play at Trent, 7:30 p.m.
Blackwell varsity plays at Blanket, 7:30 p.m.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 28
Sweetwater and Highland runners at Hardin-Simmons meet, Abilene.
Sweetwater varsity will play at Midland Greenwood starting at 9 a.m.
Sweetwater freshman, JV and varsity teams play at Monahans (district openers) starting at noon.
While Sweetwater has one more game plus an open date and Blackwell and Highland are a month away, Roscoe officially begins its âsecond seasonâ today when the Plowboys host Baird in their District 7-1A, Division II opener at 7:30 p.m.
Roscoe went 1-2 in non-district under new coach Jake Freeman, but a win tonight would equal its victory total for all of last year. One of the Plowboysâ two wins a year ago was in their district opener with Baird as Roscoe prevailed 14-0.
Freeman said getting a win tonight is important.
Bryan Vause gets ready to hit a serve for Sweet-water in his recent boys doubles match.
Vause, a senior, not only plays No. 1 doubles but is also the No. 1 boys singles player on the team, which plays again at Midland Green-wood on Saturday.
Sweetwaterâs Mikeilah Foust hits over the net during the Lady Mustangsâ volleyball game Tuesday against Levelland.
Sweetwater will begin district play by going to Monahans for its 4-3A opener on Saturday.
