Tomorrow at 10 a.m., the Adult Literacy/ESL (English as a Second Language) class will meet at the County-City Library, located at 206 Elm in Sweetwater.
Instructors will help attendees learn how to read, improve their reading and/or English skills, or help them in reading to their children.

Custom Touch Homes recently unveiled their workforce housing project planned for Nolan County at a ribbon cutting ceremony, hosted by the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce. The project is geared towards oil field workers in the Cline Shale region. Custom Touch Homes unveiled a sample unit at the event. Those who attended the event got to walk inside the unit. Modern amenities included automatic water heaters and ample-sized kitchens and kitchenettes.
Adam McGonegal, paramedic, was hired by the Sweetwater Fire Department at the end of May. Originally from Castle Rock, Colorado, McGonegal was a paramedic there for four and a half years before moving to Texas.
McGonegal, his wife, Sarah, and their two children, Ella and Mya, currently live in Sweetwater. "My wife and I lived in Abilene in the early 2000s and we really enjoyed the people and the area," McGonegal said. "We want our kids to grow up around good people."
The Class of 1968 is celebrating their 45th reunion and will alsoÂ hostÂ the 2013 All-Class Reunion on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the WASP Museum at the old Avenger Field, west of Sweetwater. There will also be an allÂ classesÂ reception on Friday night at the Texas Theater, a golf tournament at the Sweetwater County Club on Saturday morning andÂ Sunday morning church services at Newman ParkÂ according to Marilyn Kuss, reunion coordinator.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Simona Castro, 96, of Abilene, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Charles Okonkwo officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
A Rosary will be said by Lupe Medellin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Castro died Sunday, June 23, 2013 in Abilene.
She was born Feb. 18, 1917, in Fredricksburg, Texas. She married Cipriano Castro on Jan. 5, 1933 in Sweetwater.
Sweetwater will have four Little League all-star baseball teams competing in District 5 tournaments that begin today and continue through July 5.
Sweetwaterâs 9-10 year-old Little League all-stars are Harrison Foster, Logan Cornutt, Hector Medina, Cooper Hrbacek, Ricky Dela-paz, Jacob Roden, Jonathan Gallegos, Ector Martinez Jr., Braxton Gomez, Ethan Cortez, Skyler Painter and Jacob Cantu. Rodney Foster will serve as manager of the team with Ray Cornutt and Andrew Medina serving as assistant coaches.

This yearâs camps were led by Sweetwater High School baseball coaches Roland Herrera, Tony Cortez and Chad Copeland.
All of the students were taught baseball fundamentals and had pictures taken on the final day of the camp with their T-shirts. Herrera, Cortez and Copeland are pictured on the back row. The student campers who attended this year included the following:
Sweetwater, led by pitcher James Clift, had nine players earn All-Big Country baseball recognition from the Abilene Reporter-News.
Clift was one of 10 pitch-ers on the All-Big Country team, which included five starters and five, including Clift, in the âbullpen.â
Led by Kelsi Crosson, who was named to the team as a reserve outfielder, a total of five Sweetwater players received All-Big Country softball recognition from the Abilene Reporter-News.
Crosson, a four-sport athlete who will play volleyball next year at Cisco Junior College, was named one of three reserve outfielders after batting .444 with 10 doubles and three home runs for the Lady Mustangs, who won their first playoff game in school history this season after finishing as District 4-3A runnerup. She also had 28 RBIs, scored 27 runs and stole 11 bases.
