The holiday season is a busy time for many of us with work, parties and other activities that keep us on-the-go. With limited time to focus on health and wellness, many Americans tend to slack on their diets. Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) hopes to help diabetics manage their disease during the holidays with a free Lunch and Learn Seminar on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Mustang Youth Basketball will hold sign-ups for the 2014 league at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospitalâ€™s conference room located at the front of the hospital on the following dates: Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 5:30-7 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 12, from 5:30-7 p.m.; and Monday, Dec. 16, from 5:30-7 p.m.
No late registrations will be allowed this year. Children must be in third through sixth grade to be eligible.
Please bring your childâ€™s birth certificate and registration fee.
Sixty-five Sweetwater High School students made the A-Honor Roll in the second six weeks, and Texas National Bank continued with its commitment to recognize and award one lucky scholar from each grade with $50. The winners of the Texas National Bank Good Grades Pay Award for the second six seeks were Timothy Holsey (9th Grade), Kilanie Arpin (10th Grade), Corynn Martin (11th Grade), and Larissa Locklar (12th Grade). Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital recently donated many non-perishable food items and toys to the Sweetwater Goodfellows.
The Goodfellows distribute food and toys to those in need during the holiday season in Nolan County.

JAYTON â€”Â Era Juanita (Barber) Chunn, 83, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at an Abilene hospital.Â Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at the First Assembly of God Church in Jayton with burial to follow at Jayton Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.Â Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home.Â Â Online condolences may be made to weathersbeerayfh.com.

Highlandâ€™s football team had a total of 13 players who received all-District 7, Division I recognition for their outstanding play.
Players on the Sweetwater Mustangs White Flag football team hold up championship trophies after they defeated the No. 1-ranked Abilene Longhorns Black football team for the Super Bowl championship this past Sunday. The game was held at McMurry University. The Mustangs, ranked No. 6, won 20-19 in a very exciting contest.
