Local Girl Scouts and Nolan County Girl Scouts Service Unit #722 showed their appreciation to the Sweetwater Municipal Band recently by giving each member a coffee mug.
The band performed at the Meet and Greet Under the Oaks event at Girl Scouts of Texas-Oklahoma Plains Camp Boothe Oaks.

Memorial graveside services for Elizabeth â€śLibbyâ€ť Sylvest, 86, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Rev. Brian Brownlow will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Sylvest died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 at Abilene Regional Hospital.
She was born July 12, 1927 in Clarksville, TN. She married Robert Ray Sylvest on Oct. 31, 1946, in Franklinton, LA.
Funeral services for Tanjua K. Clapper, 56, of Sweetwater will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Rev. Chris Stephens will officiate and interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Clapper died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 15, 1957, in Sweetwater. She married Mel Clapper on July 12, 1996 in Sweetwater.
Sandra Joyce Tucker, 69, of Potosi, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013. Burial will be Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of Northâ€™s Funeral Home. Services will be at Potosi Baptist Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Keith Clifton officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the church.

Doug Sitter State Farm is taking toiletry donations again this year for the West Texas Childrenâ€™s Advocacy Center.
What the center does this time of year is give all the families they help throughout the year toiletries just before Christmas in addition to putting up the Angel Tree at Wal-Mart. Donations can be dropped off at 208 Lamar Street.
Those wishing to donate cash may do so and Doug Sitter State Farm will buy the toiletry items to be donated. All donations are appreciated.
Forming nearly four years ago in their hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, The City Harmonic went from anonymity to widespread acclaim with their major hit â€śManifesto,â€ť headlining tours across North America and gathering numerous awards along the way.
The final shipment of hygiene products for the Bravo company 2-149 GSAB (General Support Aviation Battalion), a military unit out of Grand Prairie that is presently stationed in Bagram, Afghanistan, will be sent on Friday, Nov. 29.
The first care package sent to the Bravo company was this past July. The company consists of 122 soldiers, with four of them being female â€” one of which includes Ruby Montoya, the daughter of Sweetwater resident and package coordinator Minnie Cortez.
Sweetwater High School junior Alex Moschella recently published his second book. His most recent work is a collection of poetry titled "Pathways" and can be purchased at Amazon.com.
Moschella spent many years of his childhood undergoing tests and later experienced vivid imaginary play, where his imagination mixed with reality. He was later diagnosed with high-functioning autism/Asperger's syndrome.
