AUSTIN â€“ The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will increase DWI patrols for a 21-day period that includes both the Christmas and New Year holidays. It began Dec. 13, and until Jan. 2, DPS troopers will focus DWI patrols in high-risk locations at times when alcohol-related crashes are most frequent.

Getting vaccinated is the best way for people to protect themselves and their families from the flu during the holiday season, when there is typically an increase in flu cases.

My sister Judy, 69, passed away Dec. 24, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, TX. As my grandson Andrew said, she was just in time to share a birthday cake with JESUS. She was born in Tulsa, Okla. on Aug. 6, 1944, to her parents Floyd and Armilla Wilson. She lived most of her life in Texas.
