Sweetwater and Pecos have agreed to have a one-game Class 3A bi-district softball playoff at 7 p.m. Saturday, according to Lady Mustang head coach Tony Heredia. The playoff will be held at Lubbock Coronado High School.
Sweetwater made the playoffs as the second-place team in District 4-3A, while Pecos is the third-place team in District 3-3A. The playoff will be in Lubbock because many of Sweetwaterâ€™s players are competing at the regional track meet being held there this weekend.
Saturdayâ€™s winner will advance to the area playoffs to face Pampa.

Aguayo, Saddler, Mirian Solis, Williams and Rovig are members of the 400 relay while Alejandra Solis and Renteria are in the 3200 run, Perez is in the shot put and Willman is in the 100 hurdles.

The Sweetwater FFA experienced success at the Area FFA Judging Contests, qualifying seven out of eight teams for State. In the coming weeks, these seven teams, along with three additional teams â€” who don't have an Area qualifying event, but go straight to State â€” will go to their respective State contests.
Many local Girl Scouts and their families turned out for the Camp Boothe Oaks clean-up on Saturday, taking on several different projects at the local Girl Scout camp.

Texas State Technical College West Texas is now collecting donations for those affected by the disaster in West, Texas. The donations will be delivered to the area on Friday, April 26. The public is encouraged to drop-off any donations at your local TSTC campus.Â Items needed include water, Gatorade, non-perishable food items, toiletries, baby wipes, baby items, blankets, towels, wash rags and clothing and shoes for men, women and children, etc.
Memorial services for Kenneth Eugene Pier, 53, of Roscoe and Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at the Park at Lake Sweetwater behind the dam with Rian Freeman officiating.
Pier died Saturday, April 20, 2013 in Abilene.
He was born April 18, 1960, in Kokomo, Indiana. He married Teresa Patterson on July 13, 2007 in Niagara Falls, New York. Kenneth lived in Roscoe and worked for Freeman Trucking since 1999 as a truck driver.
Roby â€” Barbara Higgins Sheffield, age 70, of Roby, Texas, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Baird, with Rev. Ollie Wilburn and Rev. Jimmy Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow in Ross Cemetery Annex in Baird. Parker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A visitation with family took place from 6-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home in Baird.
