The Sweetwater girls golf team moved up one spot to third place Saturday during the second leg of the district golf tournament held at Sweetwater Country Club.
Sweetwater shot 371 for a 759 total as it moved past Wylie, which shot 390-775.
But going into todayâs third and final leg of the district tournament at Green-wood, Sweetwater is faced with a near-insurmountable task of grabbing one of the top two spots and earning a trip to regionals, as it trails second-place Monahans (673) by 86 strokes.
Big Spring leads with a 662 total.
Highlandâs Sierra Allen was named the âSixth Manâ on the Abilene Reporter-Newsâ All-Big Country girls basketball Super Team that was announced Sunday.
Allen led Highland to its first-ever girls appearance in the state tournament be-fore losing to No. 1 Saltillo in the semifinals. The 6-1 junior post averaged 19.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and two blocks a game and shot 53 percent from the field, and was District 13-1A, Division IIâs MVP.

SNYDER â After prod-ucing 30 runs over its last three games, Sweetwaterâs offense was held in check by Snyder pitcher Taylor Munkres on Friday.
Fortunately, Sweetwaterâs James Clift was doing just as well for the Mustangs as he got the pitching win in a 3-2 victory over the Tigers.
SNYDER â The expected softball showdown Friday between District 4-3Aâs top two teams turned into a one-sided affair instead.
And unfortunately for Sweetwater, it was the host Lady Tigers who dominated as they won, 10-0, to take the outright district lead.
Snyder is now 5-1, while Sweetwater falls to 4-2.
The Lady Mustangs had defeated Snyder 11-8 in the District 4-3A opener March 15 in Sweetwater, helped largely by a 10-run inning.
But in the rematch, they were shut out for the first time all year on just one hit, a fourth-inning single by Kelsi Crosson off Snyderâs Adrianna Hernandez.
ABILENE â The Sweet-water High School boys golf team is now in fifth place entering Tuesdayâs final round of the District 4-3A tournament after a 17-shot improvement in its score Friday at Abilene.
Sweetwater went from a 352 to 335 for a 687 total, moving up one place from the first round. But it lost ground to the top two teams, Big Spring (596) and Wylie (614). Only the top two teams and top two individuals not on qualifying teams advance to regionals.
The Sweetwater High School and Sweetwater Middle School girls competed recently at track meets held in Colorado City and Big Spring, respectively.
