Hunt, a freshman, shot 78 and is tied for seventh place among medalists with 36 holes left. The second district leg will be Friday at Abilene.
Nick Nemir won both of the hurdles for Sweetwater’s varsity boys at the Merkel track meet, the Mustangs’ final tuneup before district competition that will be held next week in Snyder.
Nemir had winning times of 15.27 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and 40.42 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles. Deandre Gatson was third in the triple jump (42-2) and Isaiah McGee fourth in the long jump.

SNYDER – The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct the annual multi-county Lower Rolling Plains Agricultural Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3 at the Scurry Coliseum, 900 E. Coliseum Drive in Snyder.
“The conference updates our region’s producers on many of  the major issues they may face during the upcoming growing season,” said Zach Wilcox, AgriLife Extension agent in Nolan County.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at Lone Star Ag Credit, located at 400 E. 3rd Street in Sweetwater.
Lone Star Ag Credit is a cooperative owned by its customers and borrowers and is operated by Lone Star ACA in Fort Worth, TX. Founded in 1917 as part of the nationwide Farm Credit System, the company operates 10 offices in 33 counties, covering the north-central, northwest and northeast regions of Texas. The office in Sweetwater is managed by Tim Weldon.
Last week, members of Sweetwater FFA competed at the West Texas A&M University Invitational Judging Contest in Canyon as well as the Tarleton State University Invitational Judging Contest in Stephenville. Sweetwater FFA was represented by the third place Meats Judging Team and the fourth place Milk Quality Team at the WTAMU contest.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) recently began a project to refresh pavement markings on roadways in seven counties.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 155 calls for service, issued two citations and made seven arrests from Mar. 29-31, 2013.
The SPD received 78, 911 calls.

Highland’s 6-1 junior post Sierra Allen has been named to the Abilene Reporter-News All-Big Country girls basketball team for Class 1A, Division II that was announced today.
Also, Highland girls coach Shea Baucom is the Repor-ter-News’ All-Big Country coach of the year.
