Isaiah McGee is Sweet-waterâ€™s Football Player of the Week after his play in a 54-29 victory over Midland Green-wood.
McGee had 160 yards rushing and two touchdowns and caught five passes for 58 yards, and he also had a two-point conversion run.
On defense, he had five solo tackles, six assists, four tackles for a loss (including a sack) and an interception after being moved from safety to outside linebacker.
The No. 7-ranked Wylie volleyball team defeated Sweetwater by scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-14 on Tuesday at Abilene Wylieâ€™s gym to stay unbeaten in District 4-3A play.
Wylie improved its dis-trict record to 8-0 with two games left while Sweetwater fell to 3-5. The fourth-place Lady Mustangs lead Snyder by one game for the final playoff berth after the Lady Tigers (2-6) beat Green-wood on Tuesday.

NOLAN COUNTY â€“ Traffic on westbound I-20 at US 84 will be diverted from the main lanes for most of the day tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 23, to allow maintenance crews to restore the pavement surface near the recently completed overpass. Work will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. and is expected to be completed by 5 p.m.Â Drivers should follow the posted detour to US 84 Business during this time.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will host a Human Resource Workshop from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital conference room for all Chamber members.
Becky Green, Management Specialist from the Small Business Development Center Texas Tech at Abilene will be the speaker. Green was born in Sweetwater and moved away her sophomore year in high school. She returned to Sweetwater for a few years, then moved around the state.
SWEETWATER â€“ As construction on Lamar Street continues, temporary closures are planned for this week at Jenny George Lane and Arizona Avenue where they intersect with Lamar.
The closures will take place during the daytime and on the cross streets only and Lamar Street will remain open to traffic. Crews will only close one street at a time. Access to the hospital will be maintained at all times. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes at this time.
Southeast Elementary School is celebrating Red Ribbon Week this week. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October.

The students of Sweetwater High School started the new school year on the right foot with 63 students making the A-Honor Roll, and Texas National Bank continued with its commitment to recognize and award one lucky scholar from each grade with $50. The winners of the Texas National Bank Good Grades Pay Award for the first six seeks were Kaitlyn Gholson (9th grade), Keegan vonAtzigen (10th grade), Holly Johnson (11th grade) and Jamison Whoolery-Pratt (12th grade). Stella Mae Grice, age 93, of Sweetwater, passed away on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Richardson officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at Jayton Cemetery in Jayton, Texas. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013.
