Andrew Davis is Sweet-waterâ€™s Football Player of the Week.
Davis, in his first start at center, was credited with six pancake blocks, good snaps and no sacks allowed against Snyder this past Friday.

Sweetwater is a member of Texas Midwest Community Network. The organization will host the 20th Annual Texas Midwest Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Abilene Civic Center. The event kicks off a milestone year for the organization with the theme â€śMaking a Difference.â€ťÂ It will be a day of celebrating local leaders who are making a difference in their communities. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Leah Andrews and Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development (SEED) Executive Director Ken Becker represent Sweetwater on the TMCN Council.
Sweetwater's Woman's Forum is kicking off their annual holiday give away today. The monies raised will be used for their Civic Improvement and Beautification program.

The drawing will be held at the Christmas Craft Show at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Nolan County Coliseum. Tickets are $1 and are being sold by any member of Woman's Forum beginning today and ending at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.
City and county officials, along with many in the community were on hand on Monday afternoon to break ground on the new jail and Sheriff's Office at 211 Avenger Field Road.
The facility will include a county jail with 96 beds along with a sheriff's office.
The West Texas Wind Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday in Roscoe. The event will have a kid's area with bounce houses, food and craft vendors, a Mud Bog, fireworks and live music including Rance Norton and the Cadillac Boys, country music legend Moe Bandy and Band, and other area bands. The Festival continues to grow each year and Roscoe looks forward to hosting the event. A memorial service for Guillermo Romero Ortega, 69, of Sweetwater will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church. His body will be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Ortega died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, in Sweetwater.
He was born June 27, 1944 in Chihuahua, Mexico.
Sweetwaterâ€™s varsity volleyball team is 2-3 in district play after defeating Snyder in four games Friday.
The Lady Mustangs return to action when they host Monahans at 6:15 p.m. today. Shaneese Brown, Kayla Chowning and Morgan Gomez were voted as the teamâ€™s top individual performers against Snyder.
Brown led Sweetwater with 15 kills and four blocks, and also had two digs in the match. Chowning had 10 kills and 12 digs plus two service aces, while Gomez finished with a team-high 23 digs for the Lady Mustangs.

Artyss Smith scored all three of Sweetwater Greyâ€™s touchdowns against Snyder on runs measuring 75, 40 and 65 yards.
Jackson Foster, Cameron Lujan, Troy Turner, Jose Mermella and J.P. Gutierrez were also offensive standouts for Sweetwater, while Tyler Sutton (two fumble recoveries), Trace Kenny (fumble recovery), Turner, Foster, John Paul Flores, Carlos Mendoza, Kelly Gil-bert, Andrew Gerold and Adolfo Martinez were def-ensive standouts.
